About this audiobook

Who knew sleeping with the enemy could be this fun?

Was the one night stand a good idea?

Well, no. Probably not in retrospect.

In my defense I had just moved back into my grandparent’s house, I’d lost my dream job, and a guy on Tinder had stood me up. It was like life had suddenly stamped ‘LOSER’ on my forehead.

So when the guy behind the bar started giving me THE look...you know, the one that promised I’d be screaming his name into the wee hours of the morning? When that guy also has the perfect amount of scruff on his chiseled chin, biceps bulging out of his t-shirt, and a cocky grin you knew he’d earned in the sack...when he gives you that look, you don’t bother to figure out what your six degrees of separation are. You jump on that horse and ride it!

Pun fully and completely intended. And accurate by the way.

I fully admit to feeling sorry for myself and acting impulsively, but by the time I’d figured out WHO the bartender was, I was already falling for him.

This was a very enjoyable book. The storyline kept me entertained. I listened to this audio during a 20 hour road trip and it was the perfect book for a long ride. It was light and fun and very relaxing to listen to. Stephanie was the perfect narrator. Her voice was very pleasant to listen to as well as Joe Arden. What I loved about this audio was that it was Duet Narration. I’ve listened to some duet ones that didn’t flow well. But this narration flowed perfectly. My only complaint, which is minor, would be that there was too long of a pause between the end of 1 chapter and beginning of the next chapter.

Rating: 4.5 Stars Our authors always seem to give me a book that I’d rather listen to and this was one of those times that I did. The narrators helped me get to know our main characters. They put a voice to people that I seem to understand better because I can hear the emotions that come across differently than when I read the book myself. My snarkiness probably wouldn’t do justice to either character. The characters also have me thinking about going to a bar to listen to the book but I decided against it. Somehow, I don’t think the establishment would like that unless I kept ordering something. Parking in my recliner seemed to be the best idea with my drink of choice that I can nurse as long as I want to. The story starts with a misunderstanding. One thing I loved is how our authors can make it both interesting and funny. It’s also interesting how they can take an inanimate object and make it part of one of the funniest scenes. Whitney has two good friends that she would do anything for. Cole is a man that doesn’t want to be known for his family name but for what he’s trying to create. This quickly became addictive and I hated having to put it down. Our narrators and authors make a great team and made it near impossible to stop listening. Especially after our main characters first interaction. If you love romantic comedies then this is a book to add to your TBR list. This is the first book of a series that I can’t wait to get to know better. Now that I’ve started with an audio version, I need to continue the same way. If you’ve read Piper Rayne’s work before than you know you’re going to have a really funny time. I cannot wait to see what our authors are going to come up with next. You might too since the next two stories involve Whitney’s friends. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it - If Whitney hadn't been Charmed by the Bartender, I certainly was! Cole is a terrific book boyfriend with his sexy attitude and big heart. It doesn't hurt that his sexy attitude is well deserved. He's pretty much the total package, right down to being loaded without letting it go to his head. Whitney is the lucky girl to grab his attention. Of course, they have some hurdles to jump, and there are plenty of barbs exchanged as they work through their growing pains. I had the pleasure of listening to this one, and if you haven't experienced duet narration, you don't know what you're missing. It takes things to a whole other level, especially the dialogue - and of course, the steamy goodness. Both Stephanie Rose and Joe Arden are a pleasure to listen to and to be honest, the only complaint I have about the narration is Joe Arden needed more lines! Stephanie Rose is great, and she pulls off the sass and the emotion of the story perfectly. But I could not get enough of Arden's sexy as sin voice, and when Cole was being sexy, it was hot enough to set the curtains on fire. Piper Rayne chose perfectly for the narration of this one, and I will be on the lookout for more of both of these narrators. This is the first book in the Modern Love series, and with so many great characters, I'll certainly be checking out the rest of the couples in this series.
