C. L. Taylor, ably assisted by narrators Olivia Dowd, Sam Newton and Sarah Ovens, has produced a fantastic edge of your seat, thrill fest called The Island. The story focuses on a group of teenagers who, whilst on holiday together in Thailand, are booked on a trip to a deserted island where, accompanied only by a guide, they can learn to survive without recourse to room service and shopping. The island is privately owned and their booking has been made on the strict understanding that there will be no other people on the island with them other than their guide. Needless to say, things go very wrong almost from the start of their stay, but who is behind everything? Are they really alone on The Island? I loved this book, it kept me guessing (and my theories were getting wilder and wilder) to the end. Although this book purports to be aimed at young adults, it is really suitable for anyone of any age who enjoys a well written, suspense filled novel. Highly recommended.
