About this app

Experience the magic of GPS audio walks, cycles, drives and even boat rides with VoiceMap's self-guided tours in over 400 destinations worldwide. They’re like podcasts that move with you, to tell stories about what you’re seeing right now.

VoiceMap tours are like podcasts that move with you, to tell stories about what you’re seeing right now. They're produced by insightful local storytellers, including journalists, filmmakers, novelists, podcasters, and tour guides. Sir Ian McKellen has even created a tour. It's around London's West End, where he’s performed for over 50 years.

Features:

• Explore at your own pace. Start and stop tours whenever you like, then use the resume option to pick up exactly where you left off.
• With GPS autoplay, you can focus on your surroundings, not the screen. Tap on Start, and let VoiceMap guide you.
• VoiceMap works offline. After you download a tour, the audio will be available offline along with an offline map.
• If you do go off in the wrong direction, VoiceMap plays an audio alert, and you can follow the map on your screen to the next location.
• Listen to tours as many times as you like both in the destination and in virtual tour mode at home.
• With over 1,300 free and paid tours, VoiceMap offers huge variety

VoiceMap works indoors too, and Version 12 of the app combines insightful content that extends your attention span with an interface that helps you make informed choices about how you spend your time at a growing range of museums and art galleries around the world.

You can also listen with your feet up whenever you like with Virtual Playback. This turns every tour into something you can take in like a podcast or audio book.

Press:
“High-quality self-guided walking tours...Narrated by local experts, they provide insight into corners of the city sometimes overlooked by regular guided tours.”
Lonely Planet

“We may be biased, but could there be anything more helpful than having a journalist in your pocket when touring a new city? How about a historian, a novelist or just a really passionate local? VoiceMap culls city-specific stories from them all and fits them neatly into walking tours.”

Had issues initially as their servers were down. However after an hour or so it started working and from there on, it was a good experience. After reaching the spot, the GPS guide was able to help navigate the important spots. I would want to see which all places I can visit in this manner in future with a self guided tour.

EDIT: Hi Nayan – It appears that Cloudflare, which we use to optimise downloads, was down briefly. Can you please try again? It does look like you successfully redeemed one copy of the tour, after buying two. Once again, we'd be happy to help you if you emailed [email protected].

great idea. I first came across this style of app based audio tours through tye Lyon tourism website and the app they use called "rewind". I really enjoyed that app, but it was only available in 4-5 cities only in France. So, I looked for an alternative. Voicemap offers many more tours around the world, though it is bugguer and not as well designed as the rewind app, especially the lock-screen does not allow you to go back 15 secs or to replay the directions instructions. Unlocking the screen al

Makes navigation very easy! I have used a few audio guide apps, and this one has been by far the best experience. In particular, the map feature along with the images of what you should be looking at during each segment of the tour made it much easier to know what you should be looking at.
