German for the start of school: linguistically sound, playful language support for German as a second language and German as a first language

Are you looking for a comprehensive and systematic program for effective language support for children in the last two years of daycare (4 to 6 years)?
With this daycare app, you get the tried and tested German language support material for starting school (DfdS). The material is aimed at support workers and offers step-by-step instructions and material for the design of support hours.

The material is suitable for building and consolidating vocabulary, grammatical structures and storytelling skills as well as for developing phonological awareness in children with German as a second and first language. It enables systematic support in small groups over a period of two years (with 4 support hours per week) and is always based on the communicative needs of the children.

The more than 300 varied development games systematically build on each other and are arranged according to the sequence of natural language acquisition in children.

The preparation of the content in various modalities (receptive, productive, oral and increasingly written) helps the children to intensively repeat the language offer and to consolidate it through repeated picking up.

The concept and the promotional material for German for starting school were developed at the University of Heidelberg in cooperation with the non-profit Elke & Günter Reimann-Dubbers Foundation.

Notes on the required material:
In addition to this app, further material is required for support with German for the start of school. These include two hand puppets (cat and dragon), selected picture books, handicraft materials and printed German picture cards for starting school. If required, these picture cards can be sent directly from the app to your own e-mail address and then printed out. Alternatively, it is possible to purchase all DfdS picture cards, playing cards, boards, bars and posters printed on firm paper in the DfdS web shop.
