Get ready to head back to the East Coast in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.

Former trusted wise guy for the Leone family, Toni Cipriani returns home to Liberty City after spending time in hiding for killing a made man. Now, the streets of Liberty City are in turmoil, as warring families vie for control and the town begins to self-destruct under waves of political corruption, organized crime, drug trafficking and union strikes. Deranged hit men, morally depraved tycoons, cynical politicians and even his own mother stand in the way as Toni tries to bring the city under Leone family control.

The game is quite enjoyable; I was unaware of a GTA III sequel. However, the camera angle is suboptimal compared to the superior camera angles in the 2001 version. Despite this, the game is impressive. A significant update is required to address the character dialogue. Furthermore, a critical bug has been identified where shooting bombs at helicopters causes game crashes and frame rate drops, necessitating immediate attention and resolution.

It's really hard to deal with the camera. It doesn't follow behind you when you turn so your always turning a corner without seeing where you're going. When you fail a mission there's no option to restart, so you have to travel all the way back to start point and jump through the hoops. Played for a few hours and can tell it's only gonna be more frustrating as the missions become more demanding.

Good port but glaringly lacks in graphical settings in 2024, view distance is startlingly short, some elements noticeable pop-in and anisotropic filtering isn't changeable and is shockingly set low. Works with wireless controller which is the preferable control method but will not let you edit controller binds (dual shock controller plays like on PS2 so it's fine enough). Graphically desperately needs an update, phones can handle more today than when this first came to mobile in 2016.
