Loóna is the first app that lets you take care of your mind and body with the help of breathing exercises, positive affirmations, calm music, bedtime stories, sleep sounds, relaxing games and guided meditation gets you in the right mood to sleep soundly.

- SO, IT'S ANOTHER APP TO HELP YOU SLEEP WELL, RIGHT?
Not exactly. Loóna isn’t a list of direct go-to-sleep techniques, but rather a mood-altering app. Stay calm during the day with breathing & calming exercises, listening to ocean waves and wind sound, prepare yourself to fall asleep easily in the evening with the help of sleep stories and coloring.

- WHY IS BEDTIME MOOD IMPORTANT?
Negative emotions we accumulate during the day are processed and consolidated by our brain during sleep making them more difficult to disassociate from when faced again in the future. Moreover, feeling angry, anxious, down, or, the opposite, excited, and elated, is likely to affect latencies to sleep onset and REM-sleep. People mistake it for the symptoms of a sleep disorder, but in reality, they just may be in the wrong mood to sleep well.

- HOW DOES LOÓNA WORK?
From the wake up and during the busy day Loóna will support your emotional states with calm playlists and immersive stories. Each night you’ll have a recommended escape. An escape is a guided session that bundles together CBT, activity-based relaxation, sleep stories and sleep sounds in a unique way. Complete it to shut the frantic world out,relieve anxiety, reset your mind, and create the perfect mood for sleep. Focus on calming activities and quiet your racing thoughts.

- IS IT DIFFERENT FROM SLEEP MEDITATION?
Mastering sleep meditation techniques require a lot of patience and time. Starting your Loóna journey is as easy as playing a relaxing game for just 15 minutes a day. What do you get: - 70+ interactive escape journeys - immersive bedtime stories - music to relax, calm down or focus - Relaxing sounds - nature sounds including rain sounds and ocean waves, wind or white noise, green noise for tinnitus relief - lullabies to help you put your kids to bed - breathing exercises - gentle alarm clock - affirmations and motivational quotes

- CAN I USE PHONE BEFORE BED?
Loóna uses dimmer, warmer colors that are less likely to suppress melatonin. While the session of coloring itself has been shown to have a calming effect and can help reduce stress and anxiety, which can also improve sleep quality. Additionally, focusing on coloring can help distract your mind from the stresses of the day and promote a sense of mindfulness and relaxation.

Incorporating Loóna into bedtime routine helps decrease time spent on scrolling social networks. Because scrolling social networks before bedtime exposes you to bright screens and blue light, which can suppress melatonin production and interfere with your sleep cycle.

Generally love the app. But a couple things hold it back. Music is too loud compared to the voiceover, no way to adjust this. Having to wait for him to finish to start coloring. Especially when a sentence like "Now color the body" is followed by more dialog. Ended the scene. It told me to listen to music. It gave me the option to play music. Then it brings you back to the menu and if you press the thing it stops on. That just restarts the scene you just played

*edit - there hasn't been new content for some time .. get a short subscription if you're new, but sad for longtime users. :( Having trialled Loona initially simply for the desire to colour amazing 3D dioramas (great work, art team!) I then noticed getting to sleep was much quicker, the sleep quality was more consistent (not waking up any more at all) and felt overall much more restful. Really love the effort the whole team must put in - the story writing, narration, art and design.

Sadly, I'm dropping my rating from 5 stars to 3 because the app is only an afterthought for the devs now. We used to get 2+ new sleepscapes a month, but in all of 2024 we got one single one. The subscription price remains the same, but the product is no longer updated as (still!) advertised. Please come back! I love this app so much. It has saved my sanity because it really helps me overcome terrible nighttime anxiety and lets me fall asleep. Cancelling after 3+ years. :(
